Make a Spring Herbal Tonic for Full Moon

How is your energy level as we approach the Full Moon this month?  Are you champing at the bit and rarin’ to go, or are you still trying to shake off the Winter doldrums?  What you need is an herbal tonic, and Springtime while the Moon is waxing full is the perfect time to make this recipe!

Several years ago a good witchy friend and myself were both working full time doing tarot readings on the phone.  We were pulling long, late night shifts and it was pretty rough keeping our spirits and energy up.  Most people who call tarot readers at 3 AM tend to be in need of more help than a tarot reader can give.  We both got a lot of lonely drunks, scorned lovers in need of a fast love spell, folks seeking one last answer or the winning lottery numbers before their electricity is shut off; I’m sure you can imagine.  We were talking one day about our low energy levels and how the late shift seemed to sap us. We were both accustomed to feeling more energized than worn out while doing tarot readings face to face and the phone psychic gig was new to us.

We decided to make an energy - psychic energy herbal tonic, and came up with this recipe together.

Super Psonic Psychic Tonic:

  • 1 oz. Borage
  • 1/2 oz. Lemongrass
  • 1/2 oz. Spearmnt
  • 2 Entire Oranges
  • 1 Entire Lemon
  • 3 cups Ginger Ale
  • 2 cups White Grape Juice

Add herbs to 5 cups of water, bring to a slow boil then simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes with a TIGHT lid.
While the decoction is cooling, juice oranges and lemon then add juice, peel, seeds and pulp to the herbal decoction.

When cool, add the grape juice.
Strain the entire mixture through doubled cheesecloth (three times works for us!).
Hand-squeeze the pulp/herbal mixture to insure getting every last drop.
Add the ginger ale and chill for a few hours.

We loved this herbal tonic, and so did all of our friends other tarot readers and circle-mates. It’s delicious and refreshing and just what you need to shake of the Winter lazies. It’s perfect for a cool, energizing break from working in the garden or as a non alcoholic ritual beverage. Try some before ritual or before doing a little scrying, divination or tarot readings and see what you think.
